Relief

I didn't realize how bad the last couple of weeks have been until this afternoon. One of my guys at work resigned and I've been looking for someone to hire in his place. Although I just started interviews this week it already feels like it's been an eternity. We're way backed up and have a major deadline looming with the upcoming early daylight savings change. Today I finally had a great phone interview right at the end of the day. It's like a giant weight has been lifted just knowing that I have a candidate. The elated feeling that I have now compared to what's been going on in my head is incredible. It's really weird that I was so buried in the moment that I hadn't even realized how it was affecting me.

Whew. :)

Afternoon from Heck

Well, this afternoon I seriously thought I was going to lose it. Kaetlyn had her 2 month appointment scheduled for 3:30. So I wanted to be ready to load the car by 2:30 because lately Emma and Madison have been slow going getting into the car. So, I go and get Kaetlyn up from her nap and I notice the front of her is all wet so I assume it is spitup(she sleeps on her tummy so I couldn't see it at this point). I turn her over and no it isn't spitup but poop all over her. So I undress her and clean her up but can't put a new outfit on her because Madison is sleeping in Kaetlyn's room for nap. So I put her back down and go get Emma up from nap.

I try to open her door but can barely get in. Why can't I get into her room? There is a big rocking horse in the doorway, I walk into the room more and find everything from her dresser on the floor and in Madison's bed, which had the bedding off of it. Stuffed animals were everywhere, she broke one one of her collectibles(I have no idea how she reached it), then went in her closet and took down ALL of her clothes. AHHHHHHHHHHH I was about to scream at this point and poor Emma just kept saying Sorry Mommy as soon as I opened the door. I didn't have time to clean everything up so I just decided to change her diaper and get Madison up. Well, Emma also decided to poop all over herself so I had to clean that up. AHHHHH. During naptime I never heard a peep out of Emma so she did this all stealth like, I wan't to know how she did that.

Next, I go get Madison and her sippy cup leaked all over during her nap and her clothes were all wet. I didn't have time to change her outfit because at this point it was 3, we were late leaving and I still had to get clothes on Kaetlyn who just had a diaper on. Poor girl had to drive in the car with wet jeans but luckily they dried by the time we got to the doctor.

So it was a very frustrating afternoon and we were late to the appointment but they still took us luckily! I will post about Kaetlyn's appointment tomorrow.

Oh and not to mention while we were talking with the doctor Emma told him that I spanked her when she went in her closet. I didn't even spank her today.

Ahh Mommy may need a vacation soon

Wow, that sounds like a crazy afternoon! I hope they're all a little nicer to you today.

My favorite part of this post is the use of the "poop" tag. :-)

Wow, what a horrible afternoon. I hope that the rest of the week runs a little smoother for you!

I agree about the "poop" tag - I just now noticed it and it cracked me up. I need to find a reason (or maybe not) to introduce a "poop" tag on my blog...

The really should make a place (that we can afford) where Mommies can run away and be real women even if it's just for a sec. Those kiddies like to suck the life out of you. Hope today is going better.

Not sure why that last one didn't work... so I give you (hopefully) the birthday muffin picture take 2.

Yesterday's Post/Emma's Birthday Muffin

In case you happen to be wondering, my post yesterday was a picture taken on my phone. Not nearly the quality I'm used to, but it works, right? Had I waited until I had my camera handy, I wouldn't have a picture of Maddy's glasses at all (yet). Here's a picture of Emma eating her birthday muffin at lunch yesterday.

My Baby Turns 3 Today

Today my sweet Emma turns 3 years old! Where does the time go? It feels like it was yesterday that I woke Chris up at 4 in the morning asking if he saw two lines. She has changed so much in the past three years and has been such a blessing to me! I can't remember life without her, it is like she has always been here. I am the luckiest mom in the world! It has been amazing to see her reach each milestone and I look forward to watching her continue to grow into a little girl! Happy Birthday to my sweet Emma, you will always be my baby.

Sideways Bike

This sideways bike is eccentric to say the least. But cool. As most of the readers pointed out the downside seems to outweigh any benefits for it to be practical, but it sounds like something that'd just plain to be fun to learn/use.

Emma's 3rd Birthday Party

On Saturday we celebrated Emma's 3rd birthday! Since she is a huge Wiggles fan we had her party at The Wiggly Play Center in Frisco! She had so much fun and enjoyed celebrating with all of her friends. Thank you to all of those that made her day so special!

Green Tea

Green tea is what gets me going in the morning. I started drinking it last year, although I'm really not sure why. At this point it's a pleasant habit and I even drink it later in the morning and in the afternoon on days when I need it. :-)
Comments
Dr. Pepper gets me going. I probably drink way to much of it but I am addicted to it. Must be because that is what I had growing up!

Red Bull...my addiction. It's what keeps me going while working!

We in the Kolb house, now have two walkers!!!! Madison started walking this past week and as of today is using it as her main way to get around the house! We have worked really hard on this in therapy and she has done an amazing job. We are so proud of her.

Sickness

So the sickness in the Kolb house continues. Emma has had a fever on and off for two and half weeks but no other symptoms so we just have to wait it out. Kaetlyn's reflux has been bothering her and today she spent almost the entire day crying in pain and her spitting up has become worse. I had another wonderful migraine today, so hopefully this is the end. We could use a break.

Chris took Kaetlyn to the doctor this evening since she hasn't improved much and she is fine except for her reflux and we were told to switch to a hypoallergenic formula, we had to do this with Emma and Madison as well. We were hoping that this wouldn't happen because the formula is so expensive and we thought she was doing well on the regular formula but she got worse. Of course we don't mind paying more for things that make her feel better. Hopefully this will help and she will be happy and not in pain!

I have some big news on Madison but it deserves its own post so look for that in the next couple of days!!!

Please continue to pray for healing of all of our sickness.

Poor babies...all of you! We'll be praying that you all get better.

Man, you guys have had it rough for a few days. Hope things look up this weekend!

I am sure you have already tried this, but we had good luck with both Shep and Macy on Nestle Good Start and Enfamil Gentlease. Both have the milk protein only partially broken down, so it really helped both with their reflux. They still had to take medicine for their reflux, but we could really tell a difference.

Kicking and Screaming

We need a padded, sound-proof time out room. Or earplugs. Earplugs for mommy and daddy would work too.
Comments
How about pads to protect yourself. Or if you magically tasted bad when they bite you so that they were properly chastised and it caused them to lose all vocal abilities.

Parent fantasies are so lame. Remember when we had identities outside this realm. And we were semi normal people? I barely can... it's starting to fade. Do I have a name other than Momma anymore? Maybe it's Momma No. I hear that alot during the day.

Anyway, I feel your pain. My mom use to buckle me up in an extra carseat in the corner, just so I'd stay still. I try to remember that and thank God, I'm Katie's Mom not my own. Good Luck!
Jeez... Sorry for the novel.

Poem

This poem describes just how it felt learning about Madison's albinsim and sensory integration dysfunction:

" Welcome to Holland".
by Emily Pearl Kingsley.
A parent of a child with Cerebral Palsy.

I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability, to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, and to imagine how it would feel. It's like this.
When you are going to have a baby it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip to Italy.
You buy a bunch of guidebooks and make your wonderful plans.
The Colloseum, Michaelangelo's David, the Gondolas in Venice!!
You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.
After all the months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives.
You pack your bags and off you go.
Several hours later, the plane lands.
The stewardess comes in and says " Welcome to Holland ".
" Holland !?" you say. " What do you mean, Holland .
I signed up for Italy. I'm supposed to be in Italy.
All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy ".
But there has been a change in the flight plan.
They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.
The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place full of pestilence, famine and disease.
It's just a different place.
So yo must go out and buy new guidebooks.
And you must learn a whole new language.
And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met otherwise.
It's just a different place.
It's slower paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy.
But after you've been there for a while and catch your breath,
you look around and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills;
Holland has tulips; Holland has Rembrandt's.
But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy,
and they're all bragging about the wonderful time they had there.
And for the rest of your life you will say,
" Yes, that's where I was supposed to go; that's what I had planned ".
The pain of that will never, ever go away, because the loss of that dream is a very significant loss.
But if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy,
you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things about Holland.

That's really lovely and evocative.

I think Holland is just lovely. :)

From a phone company, seriously?

Why? WHY? Porn sold by the phone company? So many companies are run by pigs in business suits! This is what you get when your decisions are based solely on the statistics. Ugh. I'd expect this in Europe. As stated in the article, with it going on in Canada it really makes me wonder if the US is far off...

I thought I had heard it all....amazing! Let's just hope their marketing is off.

I'm sort of more surprised that it's taken this long, once cell phones started having video capabilities.
