Kaetlyn is 1 Month Old

Kaetlyn is already one month old, wow time flies. She had her check up today and did great! She is 7 lbs 3 oz and 19 1/2" long. She is our first girl gain so much weight and is actually on the charts and is in 10-25% for weight and 25-50% for length. She checked out just fine and only cried for a few seconds while she got her shot. Her rsv is getting better and he no longer hears wheezing and only has some chest congestion and fluid behind her ear. She was such a trooper!

While we were there her doctor asked how Emma and Madison were feeling and we mentioned that Madison had a fever the past couple of nights. He decided that he wanted to take a look at Madison even though we didn't have an appointment, turns out she has a pretty yucky ear infection. He is such an amazing doctor, he goes above and beyond.

On another note, my baby is no longer going to be a baby next month, my sweet Emma turns 3. I can't believe it and I am very sad about it right now.

Anyways, the girls are doing well and we are all trying to get over this yucky sickness that has seemed to taken over our house.

Update on Kaetlyn

Kaetlyn's follow up appointment went really well! Her doctor was totally impressed with how much improvment she had made overnight. He said her lungs sounded clear and that we just need to continue with breathing treatments and keeping her nose clear. She is finally eating again and eating like a little piggy! She has made a great turn around.

Emma and Madison are still sick and have had fevers on and off this weekend. I think they are at the end of it though so hopefully tomorrow they will be back to themselves. I miss my smiling girls.

On Saturday Kaetlyn turned one month old. I can't believe it has already been a month! Hopefully I will get her one month pictures up soon! She has started to study faces more and will even smile a real smile every once in a while. She has also outgrown her preemie clothes but of course the 0-3 month clothes we have are huge, so on her one month birthday we had to get her some in between clothes! Emma and Madison are still doing awesome with her. I still see no real signs of jealousy or changes in their behavior. They are very protective of her and give her hugs and kisses all day long. I am blessed to have three amazing girls!

Thank you for all of your prayers and thoughts, I know prayer is what helped Kaetlyn make a 180 change overnight! Thank you!!!

Kaetlyn

We took Kaetlyn to the doctor on Tuesday because she was not eating, coughin, and seemed to be in pain. We found out that she a reflux and that it caused an ear infection. She was put on meds but continued to get worse so we took her back in yesterday. She has RSV and the doctors said that more than likely she would be hospitalized because of it. She basically stopped eating and was just miserable. They told us to give her breathing treatments and to come back today. Well, since the first treatment we gave her we noticed an improvment. She is breathing easier and eating again. She is also not as clingy and is actually playing under her activity gym as I type! We still don't know if we are out of the woods, our appointment isn't until later today but it seems like she wont have to go to the hospital.

We would like for those that pray, to pray for her to get well and for Emma and Madison as well. They have also caught was Kaetlyn has but because they are older it isn't that big of a deal for them. I will post how her appointment goes today!

Green Beans

Ok so for most people this wouldn't be a big deal but for any parents out there who have picky eaters and kids that don't eat any veggies it is a big deal. Well, two nights this week Emma ate green beans and all of them that were on her plate! I am just so excited, she is such a picky eater and has never really eaten any veggies at all!

Kids that don't eat veggies? ;-)

I'm impressed - I wish I could do that.

Yay for Emma!

See I have a completely different problem. I am some how raising a hippie. She loves veggies and fruit. The child eats kiwi... eww! Maybe Emma can teach Kate to eat meat.

Stuck in my Head

Sung to the Winnie The Pooh song...

Madison Rae, Madison Rae, maddy, maddy, maddy, maddy, maddy, maddy, maddy, maddy, madison rae, madison rae

It never ends and it goes on and on. Madison just loves to sing this and it is our thing we sing together, don't ask me how we started this b/c I don't know. It is really cute when she sings it but right now this is all that is running through my head and I want something else.

How about The Neverending Song?

This is a song that doesn't end, yes it goes on and on my friend...

Oooo... That was mean Kristen. Now that one is in my head! Thanks.

Keep singing it Emily!

Some people started singing it not knowing what it was, and then continued singing it forever just because...

MEAN!

This is the song that doesn't end...

David feels the same was about the "Clifford" theme song ... and pretty much any song from Sesame Street, too.

Headaches

So for the past few days I have had horrible migraines. I finally went to the doctor today and got some medicine. Hopefully it will work and I will start to feel better, who knew a headache could hurt so much. Chris has done a wonderful job taking care of the girls while I have been feeling yucky.

I hope it works for you - I know that can be awful!

Feel better!

Are the headaches from the epidural? I hope that you feel better soon.

It could be from the epidural and I think they are but my doctor said usually when they are caused from the epidural women will complain of them before they leave the hospital. Mine started shortly after coming home.

Hmmm, interesting.

I know how bad migrains can be. I hope you feel better soon. Love alwayz in Christ, Cousin Jessica

SmugMug

I love SmugMug. I especially love that it's not very expensive. What I don't love is that I just gave them my money last night and tonight they're having the first "service interruption" that I've ever heard of them having. I'm in IT... stuff crashes... I know from experience that it's about the same level of disappointment and frustration whether you're on the side that's paying for the non-service or if you're on the side that's scrambling to fix it.

It's also interesting that the crash happened 1 day before their scheduled maintenance down time. Hmmm....

Down at 6:30am and will be down again tonight so they can install new servers.

New Look

Casey and I had toyed with this look a long time ago but I never got around to working out the kinks. I messed around with it this morning and got it working. I'd like to try it out for a few days, but it's already growing on me so I could see it becoming permanent! If you see anything that doesn't work or looks weird, just let me know.

Squeaky Clean

I have a squeaky clean fluffy-haired two week old in my arms. All I can smell is baby lotion. She's awake and quiet and staring at me, sucking on her paci. How does it ever get better than this?

It doesn't

Maybe...twins using two arms?! :-P

That's a scary thought!

New and Improved!

Announcing kolb.smugmug.com! Of course, most of you who read this already know about it and have seen it -- because you have smugmug accounts and I added you as friends when I first started setting up a week ago.

I don't have comments enabled yet, I haven't really decided on them at this point. I do have some photos that aren't sorted yet... and because I wanted to take down the old site, Fleeting Glances, as part of setting the new site up, the photos that were in the title bar above are temporarily down. I'll soon be working on brand new title bar photos.

Anyway, I'm excited... but now time for some sleep.

2 Weeks Old

Today Kaetlyn is 2 whole weeks old. I can't believe how fast two weeks went by, it feels like I was pregnant with her just yesterday! Things have been going really well and so far she seems to be the easiest of all of the girls. She drinks her formula without any problems and is actually able to drink a normal milk based formula!!! The only problem is at night she likes to be held instead of sleeping in her bed, we are working on that and it is getting better! Emma and Madison are still doing great with her and really I see no signs of jealousy towards her. They both love to come and give her kisses and hold her! I am doing well too, this recovery is much easier than with Emma and Madison. The only problem that I have is I am getting headaches that turn into migraines, so that hurts.

Kaetlyn had her two week check up yesterday and it went very well. She now weighs 6lbs 1oz, 5%, and is still 19" long, 25%. She had to have her heel pricked for the PKU test and that was hard. Chris went in with her and I could hear her screaming in the waiting room, I almost broke down in tears. I can handle shots but not seeing them take blood from my child. She goes back in two weeks, so I will update then!

Madison's First Haircut

Tonight Madison had her first haircut! She cried when she was first put in the chair but once the lady started she did great! She was such a trooper. I almost cried during her haircut because I couldn't believe that she was getting one. My baby is getting older :(

Picture are up in Madison's Gallery, be sure to take a look!

Warning- I'm in complain mode.

Warning- I'm in complain mode. Pain does that to me. It hurts to talk. To chew. To swallow. To turn my head. To exist.

I hope you feel better soon sweetie.

Why are you in pain? Did you get hurt? :(

Feel better soon

Ear infection I think. Tylenol Cold seems to work wonders... last night it had worn off because I forgot to take more. What can I say? The drugs are good.

I could go for some sleep

I succeeded in getting up this morning without waking Kaetlyn, despite my alarm going off. It helped that when I finally got to sleep at 4 am I was clutching the alarm clock against my belly under the sheets! Amazingly I didn't just subconsciously switch it off and continue sleeping (as I've been known to do). Then it was off to the sweet, sweet shower... so great, all the water falling... falling... oh crap I'm falling! My tail bone still hurts a little. I guess between the nice hot water and not getting enough sleep I just totally lost the ability to balance for a moment. I really don't even remember falling asleep, just suddenly falling to the hard shower floor. All is better now though, and even with my loud crashing and flailing no one was awakened. :-)

I'm sorry you guys are dragging - after I read your post yesterday I dreamed about my Chris falling in the shower. Let me know if we can bring over dinner tomorrow or sometime this weekend.

WOW. Take it easy! Could I suggest a pot of coffee next to the bed?! :-)

That sounds like a setup for a real disaster...

First Outing

Today the girls and I went out all on our own! We just made a quick trip to Babies R Us but it was a good trip. All of the girls were good and there were no troubles at all. The only downside was that it took longer to get ready to go but that was no big deal! It was a really good experience for us!
Comments
Woohoo! That first "out by yourself" experience is so nice!

We went to the mall last week and the kids were so well behaved for me. I was so proud of them!

Maybe we'll be out and about together again soon.

Get back to work!

Tomorrow I return to work. Well, kinda... I work half days (in the morning) for the rest of the week. I'm wondering how tired I'll be when it's time for me to get up in the morning, and hoping the alarm doesn't wake Kaetlyn (she's sleeping in our room for now).

We had an incident today between Madison and my camera that resulted in my flash getting totally busted into pieces. Fortunately, Madison is fine and it wasn't her fault (I was dumb enough to leave the camera sitting on the floor and she jumped off the couch and fell on it). At any rate, I was very proud that my first thoughts as the whole thing went down were all worries about if Madison was OK, and even when I saw dangling wires and busted pieces I still didn't worry with it until I knew Madison was alright. On the up side it seems like I might be able to get it back in working order with a good strong epoxy. The funny thing is that I was just thinking this morning that I might get good benefit out of one of the flashes that's a couple steps up from mine.

Ah, and the move-in is coming along nicely at SmugMug, although I do have about 2/3 of my pictures remaining to upload.

We are going to miss you sweetie :(

Thank you for all of your help and support this past week!

Why are some women allowed to be mothers?

http://cbs11tv.com/national/topstories_story_365194331.html

I am just disgusted at this woman. How can someone let this happen to their child? On the news they showed video of the child and it looked as if the diaper hadn't been changed in days, it was so gross. I am so sad that some kids have to live like this. When I look at my girls all I want to do for them is provide them with the best life possible and do whatever I can for them. How can someone not want to do that for their own kid? I just don't get it and this story has really made me upset and angry.

Oh, that's just horrible. Poor kids.

Are you leaving us in suspense about your web address? Or should we just guess what your smugmug acct is under?

The suspense is on purpose, but my friends that have SmugMug accounts have been added as a friend, so you should find me in your "fan" list. :-)

I'm hoping to "go live" soon.
