Does this look painful to anyone else?

Last night I had an allergic reaction and this is actually my lip looking much better, it was the worst reaction I have had in a long time. My face is all scratched up and very sore now :(

Days and Nights Flip-flopped?

Might Miss Kaetlyn have her nights and days flip-flopped? It's possible. She generally eats every 3 hours with an occasional extra feeding slipped in now and then. However, last night she didn't want to sleep during the early hours of the morning. From midnight until about 5 am she slept in 15 minute spurts and ate every 1 or 1 1/2 hours. As a desperate attempt to get her to sleep, I put her on my chest and let her lay there... and we got 2 1/2 hours of sweet, sweet sleep.

The weird part is that she didn't have any trouble like this in the hospital, so it's probably something to do with our sleeping arrangement that has her upset. We're going to try a wedge (not like this... more like this), adding the freshly laundered pack-n-play sheet that Bonnie and Chris bought us, and if we have to I'll do a little sleep dance and pray for world peace (and sleep).

Not sure if you guys have tried that wedge before, but I bought that exact one for Colin, and he rolled off of it every single time. I ended up returning it and we've found that placing books under the mattress works the best...and, we can control how much of an angle he's on.

You know, I think we had a similar wedge at some point in the past. However, there's one that we did use with Emma (and I think Madison too) that sits above the sheets that has these little adjustable sides on it that hold the baby in place to prevent the sliding/rolling problem. We found it again at Babies-r-us today and are going to give it a try tonight!

Uh oh. Praying for a day/night flip flop for you. I wonder how much has to do with the new environment and how much it has to do with being a few days old and her getting past the sleepy sleepy stage.

Whatever it is, here's to a quick remedy!

Kaetlyn Marie

Kaetlyn Marie was born December 27, 2006 at 3:08pm. I had an early morning appointment and after a non stress test and an exam the doctor decided it was time to deliver. He stripped my membranes and then had me go over to labor and delivery. By the time I was hooked up to the monitors I was having contractions and I only ended up needing a minimal amount of pitocin. I went in at 4 cm and he broke my water at 1:00. By 2 I was 6 cm and by 2:30 I had changed to 8cm. 15 minutes after being checked I felt a lot of pressure and ended up only have a little bit of cervix left that I was able to push out of the way by one intsy push. Kaetlyn was right there and I was unable to push until the doctor got there, he almost didn't make it in time. After two pushes Kaetlyn was born. She was 5 pounds 15 ounces and 19 inches long. She barely made noise but was perfectly healthy. Everything happened so fast and it was by far the best delivery I have had.

I am thankful for all of the prayers and thoughts everyone has given us. I know I complained a lot in the end but I was in a lot of pain. I am feeling so much better now and am grateful that our precious girl is here now!

Emma and Madison are so in love with their new baby sister! They want to be around her and help out anyway they can. Madison gets upset if she doesn't get to say hi and kiss Kaetlyn, it is so cute! I am thankful for such a wonderful family!

Pictures are up on my smugmug site!!! Be on the look out for more!

Please Send us Labor Dust

So tomorrow I go to the doctor and he is going to strip my membranes, hopefully since I am already 3cm dilated and 70% effaced it will work. I am nervous because I have heard it is pretty painful. Please send labor dust our way because I am ready for this to be over, I am in too much pain.

Christmas music post-Christmas?

I'm listening to Christmas music this morning. Is that ok until New Year's, or is it not appropriate after Christmas is over?

We had a great family Christmas weekend and I feel very blessed to have a great extended family around me. I'll have to blog more about the weekend later since right now I'm at work!

My opinion is that you can listen to Christmas music from Thanksgiving Day until New Year's Day. After New year's Day is over, so is the Christmas music for the year! So get your fill now!

Missing...

We are missing one baby named Kaetlyn Marie she is being stubborn and wont come out. Any ideas on how to get her out?

Labels: ,

From what I hear (and from limited personal experience), sometimes it takes some help from Daddy to prompt the process to begin...if you know what I mean...and I think you do!
**prompt 70's Jazz Fusion with heavy bass and cheesy sax**

Didn't work, just put me in a lot of pain. Why oh why is she being so stubborn?

Any more ideas?

TMI!!! TMI!!! TMI!!!

Um, that was me - it wasn't supposed to be anonymous. Stupid comments.

Hmmm...I got a little help from the daddy, then I went into labor 3 hours later!

Ok Kristen, that isn't fair.

...maybe try 90's techno... :-)

One less thing to do

Woo hoo! I'm all caught up on processing pictures. It's the first time in nearly a year that I don't have a huge backlog of photos. I just posted pics from our Disney trip over Thanksgiving, and after a few days or so I'll put up Fall 2006. Now I'm all ready for my next subject... Kaetlyn!

It's funny how unprocessed and unpublished pictures can be a burden. I enjoy taking the pictures, and I like tweaking a set of them in the "dark room", but the prospect of editing several hundred is quite daunting. You need to post your pictures taken-to-posted percent :-)

Your inspiration has started me down the path of processing my August trip to Hungary.

Oh Where Oh Where Is Kaetlyn?

On Wednesday I was having contractions, nothing major but uncomfortable, and I hadn't felt Kaetlyn move. So we went to the doctor and did a non stress test and she did move and her heart rate did not go up and down like it should. So we had to do a biophysical profile and the same thing. She looks healthy though and they think her heart rate isn't going up and down because she is preparing for delivery! I am now 3cm dilated and she is very low, the doctor doesn't think I will make it to when we would induce! Hopefully he is correct and she comes soon! I hate not knowing when she is coming. I go back to the doctor on Monday so hopefully I will be further dilated and he will have some more good news for me!

Yesterday the girls and I went to Babies R Us and got some last minute things we needed for her. We also went to dinner with Grandmere and she took us shopping and we got a lot of cute clothes for Kaetlyn at Old Navy, they were having a great clearance sale, and we got sleepers and bibs at Carters, they had 50% off the entire store. So I think Kaetlyn is set for now. We will need more newborn diapers but I think everything else is ready!

Any bets on when she comes?

We've Got a Hostage Situation Here

This morning I added a new user code to the alarm at work. Pretty standard, really. It was time for a meeting, so I sat down in the conference room and we started. A few minutes later, the police burst through the door, hands on their guns, moving around defensively as if they were in hostile territory.

"You guys getting robbed?", asked one of them.
"No.", responded Becky with a strange look on her face.
"Well someone called us... reported a situation..."

They both started to walk off to check the rest of the office for criminals, when we realized that it must have been me. Later on that morning while talking to the alarm company, I found out that I had assigned the "hostage code" to the new user. When I tested it out to make sure it worked, I set off the silent alarm and reported a hostage situation! But boy, they got there faster than I've ever seen!

Pregnancy Update

Today I had a check up with my OB and it went very well. I am 2 cm dilated and 35 weeks along! We talked about inducing so we don't have a baby bigger than 7lbs and we will most likely induce soon after I turn 38 weeks! I am so excited! I go back next Monday and I will post another update then!

Also, I wanted to vent about why people think it is ok to say anything they want to. I can't believe how many people have come up to me over the weekend that said "wow, you look like your about to pop" or "you are so big". Why do they feel like it is ok to say these things? Just because we are pregnant doesn't mean you can say anything you want to, we have feelings too.

Things that I won't be getting for Christmas...

...because I thought of them too late:

1. A SmugMug Power User account (expensive, I know)
2. A mini-fridge for the office (still pricey, but thanks for the inspiration, Bonnie)
3. iTunes Music cards

However, I am sure that the gifts I do get will be great, and besides, it's not about the gifts. Think of this post as just a few ideas for those that you still haven't crossed off your list.

A Horrific Sight

Today the girls and I went shopping with Kristen, Colin, Emily, Katie and had lunch with the Clarks. We had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves. It was great to spend time with friends and the girls really enjoyed being around all of the other kids.

On our way home we passed an accident and it was one of the most horrific sights I have ever seen. It involved an 18 wheeler and the back end was ok but the front truck part had caught fire. The fire was out by the time we passed but there was nothing left of it but the bottom part holding the wheels. I really hope that the driver got out because if he/she didn't I don't see how they could have survived then. It was an awful sight and my heart aches for the driver and anyone else who was involved.

Non-blog

So, speaking of non-blogging bloggers, someone needs to poke Doug and Lisa and Flumpus to make them start posting more. Hey, I'll make a deal with you. You guys start posting once a week, and I'll start posting at least twice a week. Where have you ever heard of a deal like that? Only here.

Oh, BTW Flumpus your site doesn't render correctly in IE7. I blame IE7.
