Madison's One Year Check Up

Well, today our little Madison had her one year check up! She is 16 pounds(<3%) and 27 inches(5%)! He is a little concerned because her weight and length dropped on the charts but we are just going to wait and see until her 15 month appointment. She will have to go see an oral motor specialist to help with her eating, though she is doing better on table foods. Tonight for dinner she ate some chicken and rice a roni! She got two shots but handled them well! He was very impressed that she didn't scream at him this time like she usually does and he is happy with her progress! I can't believe she is one year old! Time sure flies!

A Birthday, a Shower and a Graduation

Yesterday was a big day for our extended family. I took the day off. First of all, it was Madison's birthday. Madison is now 1 year old! Hard to believe, really. She's becoming such a big girl, and making progress so fast. Sometimes lately she's been looking less like a baby to me and more like a toddler. Madison had a great day yesterday and was very good. Second, Emma had her first shower with Mommy. We thought that she might scream through the whole thing, but after she got over the initial jitters she loved it. She was very proud of herself. Besides that, it's much faster for us than a bath. :-) Hey, and we're conserving water! Lastly, Eric (Casey's brother) graduated from high school. I'm very proud of him. He looked very grown up, and I know he's going to do great out there, no matter what he may do. There's lots of extended family in town for his graduation, and we've been having some good fun hanging out with everybody. I know there was something else big about yesterday, I just can't remember what it is...

Oh boy, girls have woken up and are screaming, gotta go. :-)

Big Girl Madison

Madison is such a big girl. Yesterday she started using crawling as her way of getting around and then today I found her standing up in her crib several times. She also stood up holding onto the coffee table. She is acting more and more like a one year old. I can't believe that in a week and a half she will be one!

We had her birthday party last weekend and I think it was a hit. We all had so much fun! Anyways, I just wanted to share my good news about Madison

A new addition is on the way!

In case you didn't already see it, check out the sidebar. Yeah, over there on the right. A little lower. There! :-) Yep, number three is on the way! We're very excited. It's been hard to keep it quiet over the last week. Actually, we didn't do a good job of keeping it quiet at all.

We've held out on a few people because we wanted to be able to tell them in person. In less than 2 hours we'll be announcing to my Mom and Mark. They just flew in to town for Madison's birthday party tomorrow. Casey made a scrapbook for my Mom for Mother's Day, and the last page was specially designed to announce "Little Peanut Kolb". I can't wait to see their reaction!

Madison's Eye Check-Up

Yesterday Madison had her eye check up and we found out that her nystagmus(constant wandering of eyes back and forth) and strabismus(cross eye) is the same as last time. Nystagmus is not curable but can slow down some, so that is just a wait and see and it does what it does. The strabismus can be fixed some by surgery. So our little Madison will be having surgery in a couple of months. We go back in 2 months and will schedule it then. We are waiting 2 months so we can try to find her null point(the way she tilts or moves her head so she can see the best with her nystagmus).

The thought of her having surgery scares me but I do know that it will be in her best interest. I just hate that she has to go through it, it isn't a big surgery and is performed a lot on children with low vision. Hopefully it will help her.

We will definitely keep Maddy, you & Chris in our prayers.
