On Thursday May 26th at 1:09pm our beautiful blonde haired Miss Madison was born. She was 6 lbs 5 ounces and was 19'' long. I was hooked up to pitocin at about 8:30 in the morning and at about 10 they broke my water. I had a lot of back labor because Madison decided to lay in the wrong position but at the very end she turned correctly. Her heart rate would drop really low during contractions so I had to be put on oxygen but it turned out ok. After about 20 minutes of pushing Madison came out and caused me barely any damage, much easier than with Emma I must say! Chris got to cut the cord and the doctor placed her on my belly once she came out, both of these experiences we missed with Emma, it was amazing. Chris and the doctor would talk about camera stuff in between pushes but I didn't mind! It was a wonderful birth!!!!
After breastfeeding twice Chris, the nurses, and I decided that it wasn't for me. While feeding her I would just watch the clock for it to be over and not want the next feeding to come. I was very emotional and it just didn't click for me. I know some people may be disappointed, I was myself but I think our decision was for the best. I think both Madison and I will be happier now! I just hope people don't think I am a failure or think badly of me.
Madison does have jaundice and we almost didn't get to leave the hospital because of it but after sitting by the window for hours the level only rose a little so the let us go home. We have to keep an eye on her and if it gets worse we need to take her to the ER. She goes to the doctor on Tuesday to get it checked again.
Our first night home was what it should be with a newborn. Madison decided she didn't like to sleep so we were up most of the night. We are staying positive and we have a cute little toddler to not make us think about being tired, so I think we will be ok!
Emma has been wonderful with Madison. At the hospital she kept saying "baby" and would point to her. She only had one major bout of jealousy and it went away quickly. She has given Madison several kisses without us even asking her to. I think she will be such a great sister.
I am so blessed to have two wonderful little girls! Thank you to everyone who came and visited us and helped us out. We really appreciate it!
I moved into my new office today. I'll be sharing it with someone in the near future, but for now it's all mine.
Everyday Emma and I watch The Wiggles and she loves the music that they sing. Earlier this week she started dancing to the songs, it is the cutest thing. She is getting good at dancing and seems to really enjoy it. Chris and I will probably put her in dance next summer! We also found out that The Wiggles are coming to Dallas in August, so guess who is going to see them? We have decided to take Emma, I think she will really enjoy it. Tickets go on sale on Monday so hopefully we are able to get them!
Today we bought a washer! I am so excited, our clothes will no longer have rust stains. We got our current washer and dryer from Tab and Chad when we moved into our house, they are at least 10 years old. Amazingly they still work great the only problem is that washer now is rusting, so we are only replacing that!
I go to the doctor on Tuesday, I know it seems like I go all the time. Hopefully we will schedule a date to induce that day, I will let you know!
Casey watched Cade for most of last summer, and ever since then Emma has always responded well to him. Today Emma kept following Cade around. Cade would walk into the kitchen for a drink, and Emma would tag right along. Cade moved from the couch to the recliner, and Emma would follow him over. It's so nice to see them with such a strong bond. :-)
BTW, we paid under $2 a gallon for gas today. It's a small miracle.
Oh, anyone missing a Shrek soundtrack? I was going through my CDs today and realized I have had two of them for a probably a very long time.
On Wednesday Casey gave me an iPod Shuffle as an early anniversary/Father's Day present. I like it even more than I thought I would!
This is a post. This is an example of what I need to do more often. Insert content here. :-)
We had such a great weekend! Emma had her first trip to the Fort Worth Zoo. She really enjoyed seeing all of the animals and seeming to have a good time! It was hot and I was in pain but it was fun to have a fun trip with just the three of us. Hopefully pictures will be up soon!!!
Cade graduated from pre-school on Saturday...I balled of course, I can't believe he is going to be in kindergarten. Where does the time go? He looked so cute in his cap and gown!
On Sunday I had my diaper shower hosted by Lisa!! It was so much fun to have dinner with friends and they all got us diapers so we are set! Now all we need is Madison..My next appointment is Thursday, I will post once I get back...
It's been so long since I last posted that I actually got my password wrong the first try! Things are going really well with Madison (as you've heard). We're trying to plan something nice to do as a family before she's born. We'd like to go to the zoo but it doesn't look like the weather is going to cooperate this weekend. We've considered the aquarium but it's pretty pricey. Any ideas?
I have decided that I have the cutest little girl in the world. I really don't know how we got so lucky to have such an amazing little girl like Emma. Everyday she amazes me, she always knows how to make me smile. I love her smiles, giggles, and everything else she does! It is so amazing what she is learning. She now knows where her hair, head, nose, and belly are. When I say lets go change your diaper she walks herself to the changing table and when I say it is nap time she walks to the stairs. At night she knows that she has to get her teeth brushed before bed so she walks to the bathroom and then after she is done she will walk to her crib. When we say her nightly prayer she has the biggest smile and when we say Amen she says her version of it, it is the cutest thing. She also says princess now, I guess I say that too much! I am just so blessed to have her as my daughter.
I also wanted to share that my nephew Kegan has made all-stars in baseball. He made the first team, the best team. I am so proud of him and can't wait to see him play! He is an awesome baseball player. Also, Cade is in his second season of teeball and doing great. He never loses his position when he is on the field, what a cutie!!!!
Emma and Chris gave me a wonderful Mother's Day!!! On Friday Chris surprised me with a new Brighton purse and wallet, it is so beautiful and the name of the purse is Emma :) Sunday Emma drew me two pictures and Chris gave me a beautiful card. We then went to brunch with my family at Cracker Barrel and then went shopping at an outlet mall. I had a great time and really enjoyed it!! It was a wonderful Mother's Day! I have the best husband and daughter in the world!!!
Recently it was announced at work that we'd be hiring two new developers -- a junior and a senior developer. It's the first time we've ever hired a senior developer. Since that's the same level that I'm at it will definitely be interesting. I'm kinda excited about it.
Speaking of excitement... when the new senior developer starts he and I will move into Doug's office and Doug will move down the hall. I'm sure I'll miss the antics of the developer cube room but I'm pretty excited about moving into an office, even if it's shared with another person.
Oh, I posted new pictures. Check out "Recent Glances" on the right for links.
Sometimes we wonder how toddlers live to make it to school age... Emma takes more bumps than I could have imagined, but within moments she's back up and running around again!
Kegan is trying out for all-stars for baseball..I am sure he will do awesome, he is great at baseball, good luck Kegan!!!!!
Becca, Eric's girlfriend, made assistant drum major!!! Way to go Becca, now you have to boss Eric around a lot, show him whose boss! Congrats I know you will do great!
