Israeli Soldier at Holocaust Museum

July 2000, Jerusalem, Israel

During a trip to Israel in 2000, I visited a museum at Yad Vashem, which is a collection of museums, sculptures and monuments dedicated to remembering the holocaust. At this and many other historical sites I saw members of the Israeli Army, not to protect but actually to study. This soldier was particularly intent and I can only imagine what was going on in his mind. Even though this was over ten years ago, I still think of this moment when I'm stressed or sad and then my problems don't seem like that big of a deal anymore.

Madison the Teddy Bear

October 19, 2009, Aubrey, Texas

Madison is my second oldest, and she has been full of energy since she was born. She's also cuddly, very sweet and curious about everything. At any moment, whatever she's involved in gets 100% of her attention because she stays very focused.

Bald Eagle

July 2, 2010, Gainesville, Florida

During a visit to a training zoo, I had the opportunity to get up close with two bald eagles. In this shot it looks like the eagle is getting ready to fly off, but in reality I think he was just stretching!

Emma the Diva

October 18, 2008 - Aubrey, Texas

This photo captures Emma's personality so well. She's always posing, acting and being dramatic. She's quite a leader and is almost always in the middle of some kind of performance. I hope she'll go easy on us as a teenager!

Honey Pot Ants

July 1, 2010 - Gainesville, Florida

These two honey pot ants were hanging out on a blackberry vine. They would rush apart and then back together. It didn't look like they were fighting -- I got the impression they were passing something back and forth, like food. I had a lot of fun with this one.

March 18, 2009 - University of Florida Butterfly Rainforest, Gainesville, Florida

While visiting family in Florida, we went to the Butterfly Rainforest, which is part of the Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida. This particular butterfly is a Malay Lacewing, and he posed for me perfectly!

Candid of Casey

May 16, 2004, Lantana, Texas

Having four girls running around, I have plenty of opportunities to take pictures of family! Therefore I'm intending to dedicate Fridays to these many family photos. This particular photo is actually more than 6 years old now, but I've always referred to it as my favorite photo of Casey. The biggest reason is that this was a candid that genuinely seemed to take her by surprise, so you can see just a hint of her beautiful smile in it! If I recall, my nephew took this picture while playing with my camera.
